Creating a Regulating Classroom Environment: An Introduction to the Do's and Don'ts

The four essentials of building a trauma-sensitive school include helping all staff and students feel safe, be connected, get regulated, and learn.

While this work is rooted in a relationships-first culture, the classrooms’ physical environment also has an impact on everyone’s energy, feelings, and readiness for teaching or learning. This is true for all students and staff, but especially for those who have experienced trauma.

In this interactive seminar, you’ll learn practical do’s and don’ts you can apply to school spaces right away, including color-dosing to foster regulation, defining focal points to help with focus, and incorporating touchstones to feel more anchored.
